Day 4

Changing my routine a bit today. I have been waking up at 8am and on
the bike by 9am but was getting to my destination around 3pm – fine if
there are things to see but now I have about 3 or 4 days with no major
interest points along the way. So I'm going to have a good breakfast
and start a little later than usual to get to a campground just before
sunset.

Yellowstone here I come 🙂

Ah! There is a point of interest along the way – Badlands National
Park – but that's tomorrow night probably.

InstaMapper

I am using an iPhone application called GPS Tracker to track my location… I don’t leave it turned on since it drains the battery of the phone but whenever I stop I update the location… the map also only stores up to 100 past locations… not perfect but gives us an idea of my stops…

Here’s a link to the interactive map… the one below is static unfortunately…

Uuuuffff

So after trying to find a camping ground around Milwaukee I gave up and went to a hotel near the road. It was getting dark and I was too tired to keep going – was getting dangerous.

Feeling guilty about spending the money in the hotel after have bought all the camping gear but I have to admit that after such a long day, a nice hot shower, TV, and a bed feel VERY nice.
I guess camping alone is not as much fun…
In any case – I think that from here to Yellowstone I will do some more camping since there are no real points of interest along the way – someone please correct me if I am wrong – and therefore I will drive until I find a nice area to camp.
In any case – going relax now and upload some more photos and videos I was not able to do yesterday – the WiFi at the hotel was not working. At this hotel today it seems to be working perfect 🙂

Milwaulkee!!

Made it!

Loooooong day.

This city is amazingly beautifull! And drove in straight to
Calatrava's museuem – wow!!

Trucks

Scary to be behind one of those big trucks – the turbulence throws the
bike around as if it was a piece of paper – the trick is to either
stay at least 50m behind then (where you still feel the "dirty" air)
or to stay real close – like a meter or two behind it – in the vacuum
of it's wake – don't try this at home kids 🙂 dangerous but
exhilirating to be going at 90mph with no wind and almost no gas – it
just pulls you – mind you – it also pulls you sideways when the truck
changes lanes 🙁

Will stay clear of them for everyone's peace of mind 🙂

First gas stop

Crusing today – 90mph avg – great highway – in Lucas county 🙂

See on GPS that I am going into Route 69! Wonder if it is THE route
69 🙂

Day 3

Hitting the road toward Chicago. Camping gear dry and ready for
tonight – going to try to find a camping ground on the lake 🙂

Spirit is good 🙂 did some stretching this morning – felt amazing.

Interesting to note that on the bike I have to mentally go through my
body and relax it. I tighten my legs against the tank, my hands
squeeze the grips and my shoulders tense up with the weight of the
backpack. Every so often I relax and move those spots around making It
all good 🙂

Cleveland

Long day today – at least it seemed that way because of the rain this
morning.

Stopped at a Super 8 Motel today to dry off my camping gear and to
charge my electronics. Good thing I brought my laptop since the media
drive I brought already failed – as expected actually – looked too
flimsy and was too cheap to be any good. Going to send it back.

The afternoon ride was great – sunny and quite pretty with the leaves
changing color.

Arriving in Erie was gorgeous as well – the lake looks more like an
ocean than anything else.

Pushed to Cleveland which has a very nice coastline and the Rock and
Roll Hall of Fame and a fancy Science Museum.
